The Republic de Tejas aka “Texas”

Texas was the least affected southern state during the post-civil war era. While he had used a lot of resources and men, the state as a whole had larger gone untouched by the fighting in the east. However, after the zombie outbreak of the late 1860s, Texas was left out the dry by not only the Union but also its Southern brethren. Texas was left with the loin share of the zombies that had been moved there after the herding of them had taken place during the 1870s. Texas was one of the first areas of the West to figure out how to tame and use the zombies as a work force. The years of cattle raising gave them plenty of experience raising them. The Hill country allowed for the experimentation that led to the great taming agent, the grape based zombie chow. But Texas was surround on all sides but not only the former western states but also Mexican and the Indian nations still within it. It was at this point that Sam Houston came back to the forefront of the republic’s politics and not only reformed the Republic of Texas but also, with the help of his chief diplomat, code named “Yellow Rose,” helped to bring peace and understanding between the Mexicans and Indians within the state. This new union of peoples brought about a new name to the Republic to reflect this change in culture. Taking a page from tis history, The Republic of Texas was renamed in honor of original land grant given to the Austin Family, Republic de Tejas. The government formed with a now Chief President to reflect the Indians who had join them in this new government.

Houston was elected first Chief of the new Republic and began programs to use the zombies as the workforce and chief supplier to the West, since the East left them out in the cold. One of the first major projects started was a 10-year project that had just been finished in time for the Civil War 2: Electric Bugaloo. This massive defensive structure was inspired by the heroics of the Texans of the past, the Traders from the Republic call it “Alamode,” a wall that rises 2- feet high and is armed by the everyday Texan…with lots of guns. Each Texan is required to carry at least 3 guns and a knife, however, women are asked to carry 5 guns and a knife, 2 extra to defend their honor…

Besides the local citizens, the major military force of the Republic is the legendary Texas Rangers, made up of the Best of the Best. Led by their Mythical, Bigfoot Wallace, the Rangers act as both the crack troops and the lawmen of the vast nation. While Wallace runs the group from within, his two Majors go throughout the West growing both the legend of the Rangers and themselves. First, is the craziest and most daredevil of them all, Pecos Bill. He goes around make sure creatures and nature behave themselves and don’t cause peoples to folks. His wife, a lady known as Sue, is rumored to be an advisor to a king out in Old California, he is known to disappear with her from time to time on some adventure or even to the moon…. But no evidence has been shown to prove said claims. The other major is true showman and the unofficial ambassador of the Rangers, Will Rogers. He travels both as a scout and performer to the West. It is said that he can make anyone laugh and no one can last long when he is on his game. Don’t doubt his shooting skill, he can shoot with the best of them.

The Tejas business community is still settled around the ranching industry, both cattle and zombies. The largest of these are the King Family, located in the Ranch in South Tejas, it is rumored they control 1/3 of all cattle and zombies with in the West. While the jackalopes are the biggest problems in other areas of the West, Texas has its own unique problem, the feared Chupacabra roams the plains looking for cattle and zombie alike to pick off for its own amusement and dinner. These creatures are treated with respect and fear, given their violent and destructive nature. The nation also has one of the only network of Inns and Brothels in all the Americas, all are run with the efficiency of any factory. These places are call Hiltons, named after Conrad Hilton, one of the biggest financiers of the army and educational system in the Republic. However, before the current “Alamode,” a new figure had come onto the scene in Texas business, Pattillo Higgins, who have been looking in the ground for “non-water liquid” seems to be making headway in an area called Spindletop. Because of its economic importance to both the West and the East, both sides do their best to remain on its good side and are rumored to have spies everywhere trying to gain an upper hand.

In the years leading up the Civil War 2: Electric Buggaloo, or as the Texans called it, “The War of Titans,” Tejas did its best to not get involved in their affairs. However, as the war began, something changed. Mr. Higgins and a select few businessmen pushed for “Alamode” to begin and let them fight it out. Tejas seemed to agree with these interests and brought up the wall, but seem to have alternative goals as well. Tucson was the first to get reports of something happening south of the Old border. While Tejas had a large presence on its wall, it seems reports of Rangers in Mexico and other parts of Latin American were filtering back in. Seems Sam’s plan from before joining the Union was coming to pass. There are even whispers that they might have a way to make more zombies, but nothing but wild rumor and speculation at the moment. As the Civil War 2 fight drags on, some wonder is Tejas will actually be the lone survivor when all the dust settles….
