The US Nationals 2007 was a Romance of the Nine Empires tournament held at the Origins Game Fair, July 5-8, 2007, in Columbus, OH. Although ordinarily held at GenCon in Indianapolis, IN, Romance of the Nine Empires tournaments were subject to a one year ban by GenCon, LLC, following the so-called "Unseelie Streak" incident at GenCon 2006. Tournament organizers were able to secure the new location for the US Nationals. US Nationals for R9E resumed at GenCon in 2008.
The 2007 Nationals became infamous for the Rules Team's quick action in issuing bans and errata for several cards on Friday evening of the game fair, between the Qualifiers and the Main Event, in what is now known as the "Pogrom of the Glorious Bastards".
The winning deck of this tournament, a Merchants of Esh "Super-Fiends" deck using superior economy to bring out the most powerful monsters in the game, was released in a special foil and tarot-sized version to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Romance of the Nine Empires.
