Silent Jim is more archetype than man. Most agents don't like working with him, citing "an ever-present sense of impending doom." But he and Gabriel struck up an instant camaraderie, like they'd known each other for years. Fighting side by side, they're an unstoppable team. Silent Jim was counted among the dead following the Vancouver Disaster. He's since reappeared, giving no explanation for his absence, and nobody else is brave enough to ask about it. Some say it's not the first time he's pulled this resurrection trick. It probably won't be the last, either.
Kincaid was a field agent back in the day. A master of Druidic magic, his skillswere instrumental in shutting down the Hellgate during the Battle of Centralia. Some say he single-handedly saved the world, but Kincaid's having none of that. He's always been a team player, which is why in pained him to have to leave the Chapter. The injuries he'd received during the battle were too severe. His days as a hunter were over.

Today, Kincaid serves the brotherhood as the North American Regional Director, in addition to his work as the Brotherhood Tribune-defender of diversity, tolerence, and equal rights for all brotherhood agents. In his time as Tribune, recruitment of super-natural agents, once considered taboo, has become commonplace. His most recent success is the introduction of vampire filed agents in the brotherhood. As for what's next. he's got some ideas. Some crazy ones. The brotherhood may not be ready for a demonic Demon hunter, but they'll get there, and he'll help them along. He's in no rush.
The Botherhood's top scientists and mystics have searched for an antidote to the zombie toxin for decades, but the most promising approach to a cure came from a civilian. Dr Bijou Labeaux's doctoral dissertation on the zombie toxin was no less than a revelation, and the Brotherhood set her up with a cushy, state-of-the-art laboratory to continue her research. All that was left was to run her through basic field combat exercises required of all new recruits. Once Bijou realized how much fun fieldwork can be, she became obsessed. Every moment not spent toiling away in the lab was spent petitioning the higher ups for a promotion to field agent. When Silent Jim showed up, she knew she'd finally made it. Now she's out of the lab and ready to kick some ass.

He hadn't earned it, but he was given command of an Epsilon Chapter straight out of the academy. It got his team killed. He was the lone survivor of a werewolf attack he should have prevented. He got the antivirals in time to keep him from going full-wolf, but just barely. He hardly recognizes the angry, feral face in the mirror anymore. Unable to trust himself and other people around, he retreated to a remote cabin in the forests of Montana until Rigor Mortis showed up to put him back to work. He;s not the leader any more, but he figures it's just a matter of time until Gabriel Screws up big enough. All he has to do is wait.

In The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, the Purple Ninja is one of the protagonists (along with the mysterious Orange Ninja and a crew of Pirates) of the Pizzajitsu Game that Kevin Lodge and Johanna are enjoying. The concept and origins of the Purple Ninja are (ahem) unknown and for the sake of a family friendly wiki, most probably should be kept that way.

Deep in the library basement of Pacific Northwest University lies a great evil, the Earthwalking demon Duamerthrax the Indestructible. Freed after a 1,000 year imprisonment, the demon unleashes his fury on the unsuspecting students above, especially on Chris, an unfortunate everyman who just happened to be in the way. Chris has only one hope-the Demon Hunters and their fearless leader Gabriel. Will the Demon Hunters destroy Duamerthrax before the demon escapes completely? Or will Gabriel, Silent Jim, Chris and the others be brutally slain by the last of the Earthwalkers?
Fleeing with Gabriel, the sole surviving member of a celestial team of demon hunters, Chris finds himself immersed in a world of supernatural terrors - a world populated by time-traveling gunslingers, coniferous bounty hunters, and the very demon who killed his friends. Can Chris learn to fight back and survive the horrors of Dead Camper Lake, or will he literally find himself in hell?
Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors is a roleplaying game that blends comedy and action-horror in a modern day world where agents of a mysterious Brotherhood confront supernatural threats from folklore and myth with their own extraordinary talents.

The game uses standard polyhedral dice and a variation of the popular Fate Accelerated and Fate Core game rules. Players can get set up quickly and GMs can make use of story-generating charts and tables to create scenarios both scary and side-splittingly funny.

Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors is written and designed by multiple award winning game designers Cam Banks and Amanda Valentine, with original material by independent film creators Don Early and Jimmy McMichael, and writing by Nathan Rockwood. Published by Dead Gentlemen Productions, creators of The Gamers and The Gamers: Dorkness Rising.

The book contains dozens and dozens of scenario-generating tables, lists, and suggestions. Creating new adventures for the Demon Hunters to tackle is fun, easy, and as simple as rolling a few dice. Options included make one-shots a piece of cake, while allowing for long-term episodic campaign play. The Dead Gentlemen bring their filmmaking experience to the game table. Treat each game like a scene or act in a movie or a TV show.

Demon Hunters RPG (2008)
Demon Hunters Role Playing Game – Corebook is produced by Dead Gentlemen Production and Margaret Weis Productions, Ltd and Sponsored in part by Cobbler’s Crystals, “Now that’s a ga#d@mn cup of coffee!”

Demon Hunters RPG is written in a slightly tongue-in-cheek style for experienced and mature gamers with heavy emphasis on Storytelling. It is presented as a table-top simulation for the actual order itself, but I am sure that is just a clever marketing ploy. Demon Hunters RPG seems well suited for a group looking for a change of pace from the standard dungeon crawl and encourages role play. Again, this book is not intended or suited for a group of new role-players looking for an introduction into the hobby (er, I mean table-top simulation). The time-frame of the game itself takes place in a modern setting just before the events of the original film, Demon Hunters.

As a Demon Hunter, a player belongs to the Brotherhood of the Celestial Torch as a vanilla human or any number of supernatural variations and augmentations. The Brotherhood ensures our world remains safe from all manner of evil, up to and including their nemesis group, the Order of the Infernal Scepter.

The Demon Hunters RPG Corebook lives up to its name by providing everything within its covers to play the game including this author’s favorite: Chapter 6 How not to die. Within this book is also the Purple Ninja’s choose your own adventure mini-game! Two games in one! The only thing a player needs is dice and her imagination.

Contained within are quotes and wisdom from the greatest demon hunter of all time, the Purple Ninja, to help new recruits in their battle against evil. Every single one of these quotes is timely and should be heeded by all of the Brotherhood. Here is an example, “To err is human. To wet your pants and hide under table is also human. Try not to be too human.”

Included within the book is the excellent Demon Hunters Orientation Video DVD(also taking place before the events in the Demon Hunters film) with many Dead Gentlemen regulars, several filling in for the original Demon Hunters film actors including Scott C. Brown as a strangely frightening and intense Sam Hell (replacing Matt Armbrust) as well as a few new characters unseen in the films and is a must for fans.

The only thing which could have possibly made this more of a complete game Corebook is the inclusion of a short story set in the Demon Hunters universe by none other than R.L. McSterlingthong (a known fan of Dead Gentlemen Productions and, well, himself). Though this far inferior writer suspects a deal is already in the works for the highly anticipated Second Edition of the game.

This is the story about a demon - Duamerthrax the Indestructible - who gets trapped on a college campus and goes around killing people trying to escape, and the holy organization - the Brotherhood of the Celestial torch - that tries to stop him.

Dead Camper Lake (2001)
The survivors from Demon Hunters head to their base at Dead Camper Lake, and find some of Gabriel's old friends there acting quite strange.

All Chris wants is to be an accountant. This changes forever when a demon murders his girlfriend and destroys half of his sleepy college campus.
The Demon Hunters comic is a complete re-imagining of the DH universe. We’re taking things back to before the beginning, picking up Gabriel’s story from right after the fallout from the Vancouver Disaster. Along the way you’ll recognize some faces, and encounter a familiar plotline or two, but this is an all new take on the original stories.
Demon Hunters: A Comedy of Terrors RPG (2016)

Funded by a successful Kickstarter in 2014 and playtested and developed by a legion of gamer fans. Ready for prime time and released under the Open Game License as an additional love letter to the gamer audience.

Demon Hunters is the story of Gabriel. Gabriel was an agent of the Brotherhood of the Celestial Torch. This secret army of mortals, myths, and monsters is tasked by the powers of Good with protecting the world from Evil in all its forms, and keeping the nightmares hidden from the unsuspecting civilians. Gabriel was the best they had.

Then the thing in Vancouver happened.

The Brotherhood blamed Gabriel for the disaster and stripped him of his command. Kicked him out of the only world he’s ever known. The few friends who didn’t die in Vancouver have turned their backs on him. He’s alone, living out of his van, and doing his damnedest to drink away the betrayal when an unexpected ally shows up to yank him out of his funk and get things back on track…

Writer

Over the past fifteen years, Jimmy has gone from being a rabid Demon Hunters fan to being given the reins of the Demon Hunters franchise and the opportunity to remake the DH universe from scratch. Along the way he’s inspired and faked his way through playing a character in the Demon Hunters movies, created and run the Dead Gentlemen website for far longer than he had any interest in doing so, and co-written the Demon Hunters RPG and accompanying Orientation Video for Margaret Weis Productions (along with RPGs based on the shows Supernatural and Leverage). For the past two years he’s worked on reimagining the world and characters that he’s been obsessed with for nearly half of his life, and he’s finally ready to show off the results. Here goes nothing!

Artist

Ben Honeycutt is a digital illustrator and sculptor from Spokane, WA. After working in clothing design and the short lived Ethos trading card game, Ben turned his sights to comics. After a cross promotion involving Ethos and Dead Gentlemen’s Luster character, Ben was invited to join the Demon Hunters webcomic project, where he masterfully brought to life all the crazy concepts bouncing around Jimmy McMichael’s head. He’s also incredibly humble. Masterfully so.

Don Early – Actor, director, producer, co-founder and President of Dead Gentlemen Productions. Like many of the Dead Gents, he debuted in the 1999 college film effort, Demon Hunters as the relatively verbose Silent Jim (A character strongly influenced by Agent Smith from The Matrix). Following Demon Hunters, the Dead Gentlemen began production of its direct sequel, Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake, but Don wasn’t content to remain simply a one dimensional matrix rip-off, this time he jumped behind the camera as director and reprised his role as Silent Jim adding both depth and what would later be termed a ‘Fluid Character History’ to the character by dying and coming back, twice. For more details see DG Character: Silent Jim.

Further Dead Gentlemen efforts had Don active yet mostly behind the camera. Don produced both The Gamers and its wildly popular sequel The Gamers: Dorkness Rising. Don also wrote the Latin subtitles for The Gamers, (which Don received special thanks from the Vatican as they were able to also enjoy the film, on many levels). Don also produced and acted in various shorts and sketches.
Don was also a contributing developer for the Table-Top Roleplaying Game: Demon Hunters RPG also reprising his role as Silent Jim in the included Orientation Video.
Personal Life – Although Chris Duppenthaler and Nathan Rice battled over the lovely Cindy Messler aka Angel (among other issues) on screen in Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake, it was Don who ended up marrying her in the real world. It’s always the quiet ones. They currently live in Bellingham, Washington.

Don grew up in Boise, Idaho and moved to the Tacoma, Washington area in 1996 when he began attending Pacific Lutheran University. He regarded himself as a very good student but admits he met his academic match in his future wife, Cindy, although Don maintains he was better in the Language classes.

Asking Don about his early days with DG, he stated,

“I was one of the original coffee house Dead Gents, before we ever made a film. The original group gamed together. I was actually introduced to D&D by Nathan Rice and Steve Wolbrecht. And now you know never to trust a writer who will "borrow" ideas and claim them as their own. :) Well that's what writers do and I thank Matt Vancil for immortalizing the character's name and somewhat theme in The Gamers: Dorkness Rising….”

Don has worked on a Habitat for Humanity build in Ferndale, Washington is currently on the board of directors of Animals as Natural Therapy. Despite some of the irreverent tone in the original Demon Hunters, Don is still a Lutheran.

Deep in the library basement of Pacific Northwest University lies a great evil, the Earthwalking demon Duamerthrax the Indestructible.

My first character was in Second Edition, a Specialty Priest of Kelemvor named Mortkemnon.

Funded by a successful Kickstarter in 2014 and playtested and developed by a legion of gamer fans. Ready for prime time and released under the Open Game License as an additional love letter to the gamer audience.

My first character was in Second Edition, a Specialty Priest of Kelemvor named Mortkemnon.

The group that would become the Dead Gentlemen Productions filmed Demon Hunters in April and May of 1999. Running Time: 1 hour 21 minutes. The story is about an international group of monster killers named The Brotherhood of the Celestial Torch, and created the basis for all of the Demon Hunters projects, including the role playing game. Its sequel, Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake was filmed in March of 2000, and a second sequel, titled Demon Hunters: Nox Aeterna was hypothesized several times.

Synopsis

Beneath the library of Pacific Northwest University lies an ancient evil—the earthwalking demon Duamerthrax the Indestructible. Freed after a thousand-year imprisonment, the demon unleashes his murderous fury upon legions (more like twenty, actually, but "legions" sounds more dramatic) of college students some of which are self-righteous, foolish, and incompetent. One such college boob is Chris, an unfortunate accounting major who just happened to be in the way. Chris has only one hope: the Demon Hunters with their cold, fearless leader, Gabriel. Together, they find themselves caught in a deadly game of cat and mouse with Duamerthrax. As the demon whittles down the team one by one, will Chris and Gabriel discover the demon’s weakness and destroy him before he kills them all? And what mystical force is preventing Duamerthrax from leaving the campus?

The greatest Demon Hunter of them all. He is an enigma, wrapped in a mystery, draped in violet gi.

The Purple Ninja is a character who appears in all of the movies produced by Dead Gentlemen Productions. In every film he is credited as playing himself. Apparently, The Purple Ninja is actually played by Nathan Rice when speaking, who appears in each of the DGP films.

Purple Ninja's Film Credits:

In Demon Hunters (short movie) he appears as "The Greatest Hunter of All Time", and confronts Duamerthrax the Indestructible, efficiently defeating the demon in personal combat, but the demon, being indestructible, kills the Purple Ninja with a surprise attack, breaking his spine. The stunt double for the Purple Ninja in Demon Hunters was played by Victor Prinsen.

When Duamerthrax returns to life in Demon Hunters: Dead Camper Lake, the Purple Ninja also returns, but the demon, presumably not wanting another butt-whooping, quickly and ruthlessly tears him in two (offscreen).

The Purple Ninja can also be seen during the battle with the bandits in The Gamers, where the Bandit King kills him in the background as the main characters fight. It is unclear whether Nathan Rice plays this incarnation but it should be noted they do not appear together onscreen, hmm).

In The Gamers: Dorkness Rising, the Purple Ninja is one of the protagonists (along with the mysterious Orange Ninja and a crew of Pirates) of the Pizzajitsu Game that Kevin Lodge and Johanna are enjoying. This incarnation of the Purple Ninja is not played by Nathan Rice and remains uncredited (or could be the real Purple Ninja!).

The concept and origins of the Purple Ninja are (ahem) unknown and for the sake of a family friendly wiki, most probably should be kept that way.

His real story is revealed (more or less) in the Demon Hunters (rpg) Corebook (in which there are many quotations of this mysterious warrior, and in which it's revealed that he really likes Avril Lavigne) and he also makes a brief appearance in the included Orientation Video DVD.
